Oil in Brake master cyclinder causes brake light to come on?
My brake light is on and I realize that somone filled up my brake master cylinder w/ oil. Is that causing the brake light to come on? Is it even safe? Can i remove the oil or i need to replace the brake master cylinder?
thanks.

how do you know its oil?
clean oil and brake fluid can look very similar
The brake light is pretty dumb - if the float in the mc falls, the light comes on; if the ebrake is up, the light comes on.
The float wouldnt know the difference between oil and brake fluid.

It smells like oil.

If I flush it out will my brake light go off?

guess it depends on the fluid and oil you use
either way, like i said, the light isnt that smart
if the float...floats...the light will go off (assuming the electrical is sound)
If you think its oil, just flush it...

so the float isn't floating, that's why my light is on?

maybe...
Go out, turn the car on, pull the mc cap, push the cap's float up manually and see if the light goes off.
if it doesnt turn off, its something else (check your ebrake electrical connector next)

not designed to be compressed though. bleed a back wheel till you get brake fluid out of it. than do the other 3 wheels. shouldnt hurt nothing , if you get it out.
