Default OEM wheel w/ airbag delete

93 Del Sol Si (only drivers side airbag)
D16A swap
233-XXX

Since i got my Sol the airbag center cap of my steering wheel has... bulged. It looks quite unsightly but doesn't trigger any srs lights. That combined with my GF driving the car more and her sitting very close to the wheel has led me to just want to get rid of the airbag all together. So i plan on doing the steps below, but from what i understand the wheel center is part of the airbag. So how do i delete the bag while maintaining stock looks and not blowing my face off? Has anyone done this?
  • Unplug battery 30min
  • Remove airbag
  • Jump SRS with 2ohm resistor
  • Profit

TLDR

stock wheel w/o the airbag
airbag is part of wheel center
Separate center and airbag
What do?

You need the OEM delete panel from a Canadian Civic. Happily, I have one to sell you. In black, even. Super rare but your lucky day. I'll be home in about a month.

Anything with that many buzzwords sounds expensive. Not to say that i am not interested, lol. Before now ive never even heard of an OEM delete panel for the wheel, only the dash panels.

The airbag seems to be literally riveted to the plastic, maybe some careful dremeling and a few custom brackets could make it work. Though i would like to avoid that hack-job if i can.

No need to jump the SRS if you only have a driver's side airbag and plan on removing it. Just take the bulb out or unplug the SRS connector on the back of the cluster. Leave the SRS computer and wiring intact in case you want to reinstall another airbag wheel later. It would be really easy just to get another OEM non SRS steering wheel. Snag one from an EF, it'll bolt right on or a JDM ITR Momo or JDM EG6 non SRS wheel if you feel like having a really nice wheel and don't mind spending a few bucks. Remove the clock spring, install the new wheel and wire up the horn buttons, done.

Above poster is right... you could just disable the SRS and never worry about the bag exploding. But my way is nicer, plus you keep your cruise buttons presuming you have them. Plus it wouldn't be that pricey. I'm a motivated seller.

The jumper seemed simple enough, and maintains the bulb flash check when you turn on the car. Which maybe necessary for inspection in the future. I more or less want an "invisible airbag delete" where everything has the illusion of OEM.

I also have fully functioning cruise and use it quiet often, so removing the clock spring is out of the question. Steering me away from getting a different civic wheel, although the 92-95 DelSol Sir wheel would most likely be my go too.

I could just unplug the bag, jump it and leave it but that seems half ***.
