Default OEM tach being off?

My tach is off by about 400 rpms at redline, if you put in an aftermarket tach like autometer etc, and wire the aftermarket tach to the blue signal wire, will the aftermarket tach now read dead on to the actual rpms?

thanks, I guess OEM dash just gets the signal from a poor source? I wonder if it's possible to re-wire the signal to a better soruce, ie. of the distributor.

the OEM tach is wired off the distributor.

and yes , the factory tach is slightly off , its fast by about 200 rpms in the upper range.

the peak hold function on a VAFC will tell you that.

The dyno told me it was off, and more than 200rpms. So why is it off if it's wired off the distributor?

Just like everything else, if you want accurate it is going to cost you.
The civic may be well engineered but costing less is always a factor.

my tach reads 9000 at my 8500rpm rev limter. the gauge itself is inaccurate.

yea.. i dont remember if it was like this before the swap, but after i put my gsr engine in the tac now rests at 0 when i'm idling.. My tack is off by so much. it really sucks. Then I never know when i'm gonna hit the rev limiter at the track, so it messes up my runs sometimes.

too bad my mom threw away my gsr cluster wiring.. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I idle at 100 RPM if you want to know how accurate it is.
