Odd problem with 98 Civic Dx
Hi everyone
Long time lurker, first time poster. I have a 98 civic Dx, 5 speed with an odd problem. I am able to accelerate just fine, but when I get the vehicle to a maintain speed for that gear, say 30km an hour in first, 45 or so in second, it's like the car totally loses power and the speed starts dropping. I have to push the accelerator again to get it moving, the car gives a lurch and all is well. Car has about 190k on it . Any ideas here? It's driving me nuts! Thank you in advance!

Well, I'm about to run through this tank of gas, I have put into neutral and ran the throttle at high rpm. This fixed the problem temporarily. I checked to make sure the gas cap was seated (undid, released the pressure and closed again). Any ideas?

So, nothing?
When was the last tune up? Throttle cable?
What is your mechanical aptitude?
Advice, find a field service manual and become familiar with it. You should be able to name every part on your car and know what it's function is if you plan on working on it.

Mechanical aptitude is probably a 5 out of 10, but I'm lost on where to even start with this. It has been some time since the last tune up, at least a year. I will work on finding a service manual.
