ODB2 Motor in an OBD 1 Car
Well, with the search button not functioning, and the fact that I am looking for a new motor than what I had planned I need some help.
I am looking into getting a D16y7 from a '00 Civic EX, my car is a '93 Civic CX Hatch. What all do I need to do to convert it from an OBD2 system to an OBD1? Pretty much, what do I need to do to get the motor in the car and running?
Thanks, Scott

Top....still no luck going through all my old stuff.
EDIT: You need to swap out your old injectors (plugs are different)
I am not quite positive you need an OBDI distributor but, you may be able to use your old CX distributor.
And that's all I can remember right now

Re: ODB2 Motor in an OBD 1 Car (Spade)
I'm hoping that I will be able to get the ECU with the swap. I know I have to do some wiring (not sure exactly what) and I do know that I need to change injectors, but maybe I'm just stupid, what do I change them to? I moved my question to the Hybrid section too, no hits there. I think I'm going to have to change the Distributer too, but see I don't know specifics. I don't know what I have to replace things with. I'm checkin out other boards and whatnot too.

Re: ODB2 Motor in an OBD 1 Car (purek9hybrid)
My problem is this. My stock CX motor is about to die. I make weekly trips from OSU to Cincinnati in order to make money for my H-series I plan on swaping this summer. I want a newer motor with less mileage and more power because my next project down the road is going to be an EF SOHC hatch project. I just got on the horn and started looking for D-series motors and found that you can get some umpf out of them. So I think it'd be interesting to play with a D-series until I get my H.

Bump please? I don't think it should be too complicated, I just want to know exactly what I have to play with.

The injectors have different connectors and you would have to splice some wires. If you use your CX injectors (same size as the Y engines) then you don't have to rewire those.
Same for the distributor I believe. Use your CX one.

Re: ODB2 Motor in an OBD 1 Car (Spade)
Spade, thanks for all your help, however I talked to some shops today and they said that in order to run the OBDII motor I have to swap out both the motor and inside harness's or something like that. So I am going to now look for a D16z6, or start researching this elusive Mini-me swap and throw in some High Compression pistons in my D15 block w/ a z6 head. We'll see how that works.

I'm doing this swap too. What the shop did for me was they swapped all the obd2 parts for obd1 like the distributor, injectors, and alternator. You have to run an obd1 to obd2 ecu coversion harness that you can get at http://www.jdmhondaparts.com in order to run your obd2 ecu. As far as the engine harness that you are going to use i'm not sure but i'm gonna try an obd1 gsr harness because it comes with the knock sensor already. Make sure you use a JDM ECU though because the obd2 usdm ecu will look for sensors that the car doesn't have.
This is what i've found out so far. Hopefully it will help. Email me cause i want to know what you've come up with too. at officialcivic@hotmail.com
I don't think you'll need knock but you'll definitely need to run vtec wiring if you haven't already
There are not too many people who know anything about this swap.

hmmm really depends also on the ecu u r going to use.. If you are planning on using your stock CX OBD1 ecu then you would need to run a wire for vtec... and I do believe that everything else should plug up... dont know about the distributor or the injectors... i thought they had to match the OBD of your ecu... not sure...
