OBDII vs. OBD2.5 differences?
Is there any difference? I have a 97 hx OBDII and am planning on dropping in a 99 Y8 OBD 2.5 with a 98 OBD II ecu, foresee any problems?

im not really sure of the difference but talk to your local dyno/import performance shop... most of them can program ECU's to fit most any combo and if not then you can run a HONDATA or similar programable ECU.

The mention of an OBD 2.5 intrigued me, so like any good nerd, I immediately turned to my Helms manual. Apparently, there are some differences in the Evaporative Emissions controls. What exactly they are, I could not really tell you, unless I actually sit down and study all these diagrams (I am still not super tech savvy.) Also, the O2 sensor is housed in the cat differently on 96-98 ex models and 99-00 ex/si models. I really wish I could give you more specifics, but honestly the diagrams are going over my head.

talk to KATMAN here on honda-tech he cn tell you what you need to make it work.
The proper term is OBDIIa(96-98) and OBDIIb(99-00) for those of you who dont know.
The two setups are different, and it is not only emmissions bs either. The entire ars wirting is different, the ecu uses different plugs.

The OBD2.5 has the evaporative fuel crap in the Intake manifold I know that for sure.....that is why all the D guys need to make sure they are buying a 96-98 Y8 intake manifold, the 99-00 Y8's won't fit onto the other engines.
That was the major thing that I knew about it.
