OBD2B motor into OBD2A 96 Civic EX
So i just installed a 00 b16a2 into my 96 ex coupe and i'm looking at the plug on the ecu and its missing one plug. i have already sold my 96 ex harness because this motor came with the wiring harness on the motor already with ecu. take a look at the picture below and tell me where the other plug is at. should it have been on my harness, is it some where inside the dash, or do i need a obd2a to obd2b jumper harness. well let me know because i want to fire up this motor asap. HT has always been a big help so thanx again.

you-just-done-[freak]ed-up, You cannot use a OBD2B engine harness in an OBD2A car, you need to get your old harness back, or buy another one, plus you just sold possibly the most expensive engine harness made for any civic (they sell for $200+)

Once you get your harness back then you can use a jumper harness and plug in the Si ecu.

yup, youve just done messed up, the 99-00 si harness only comes with 2 clips for the ecu the 3rd one stays in the car.....the one for your car all clips for the ecu come out with the harness.what you shouldve done is use your ex engine harness, if anything you would have to run the vtec wires if your ex is non vtec. then a ob2a to obd2b to clip on the 99-00 ecu or take the extra step and get a chipped obd1 ecu and obd2a to obd1 jumper

Just for the record, an EX harness is always the preferred harness for a swap because they're always wired for VTEC and knock sensor. Never heard of an EX, at least 92+, without either. There is always an EX of the same OBD type as your car.
