Default obd2a-obd1 Conversion harness problems....

i have a JDMSh!t OBD2a-OBD1 conversion harness for my 98 ek hatch. LS motor swap. obd2 dizzy. I've tried using 3 different obd1 ecu's(stock p06, stock p28, and skunk2 programmed po6) with this thing, and still no luck. it acts like it goes out of time with it hooked up. kind of a beasting wrx type idle, just without the fast car effect. i've checked pinouts on the harness, and everything is hooked up to where its supposed to. if anyone has had this problem, or knows what could be causing this to happen. i would extremely appreciate it. thanks guys/gals!

maybe its the ecu's that youre running that makes the car run like ****, theyre single cam ecu's...get a P75 and try that, you might also want to check your firing order, the "wrx" idle u get sounds like it might be a misfire, check your timing also

i've checked the firing and timing on it. but still runs like crap, and dumps so much gas into it, that it spits raw gas out the exhaust...on my stock non-vtec civic obd2 ecu, it runs pretty good. but i know it could run alot better. and even if so, the skunk2 programmed ecu is made for either a civic or integra base maps. i've considered getting a obd2-obd1 dizzy harness, and see if that may be the problem. but i've talked to a few ppl on here, and to skunk2 and some tuning shops, and they said as long as i'm running an obd2 dizzy on my swap, that i only need the obd2-obd1 ecu conversion harness and an obd1 non-vtec ecu, for a civic or integra. i'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. it sucks pretty bad

no problems with the harness that i can find. all connections are good, and pin-outs are in correct order. when i hook up the harness and obd1 ecu's, they all do the same thing. it has a real beasty idle, and the check engine light just kinda flutters. it just runs like complete crap with the obd conversion harness hooked up.

had a similar issue with the conversion harness. i had a obd2a to obd1 and it didnt work quite right. so i went to rywire and bought the specific one i needed. obd2b to obd1. helped out alot.

Have you tried starting the car on an obd2a ecu?

yeah, i'm running on the stock obd2a cx ecu right now. I'm just really looking to be able to use my obd1 po6 that i sent off to skunk2 to get done for my setup. because i'm pretty sure it'd make a hell of a difference. I did the ckt sensor trick and the 3-wire to 2-wire iacv wire tricks too. those got it to where it would actually run with the obd2a ecu. now i want the obd2a-obd1 harness to work. but i'm just having no luck with it. i've tried resetting for 10 minutes, even though it doesn't really matter since the ecu is getting unplugged anyways, but i've tried everything, except for converting to my obd1 distributor, but i've been told by everyone that i've asked that i don't need it, since i actually have a obd2a LS distributor.

Theres no need to change he distributor, have you tried another jumper by any chance? Or just a bunch of ecu's?

just a bunch of ecu's. i guess i need to try another jumper harness, the pinouts seem fine on mine, but there's no telling. guess i'll have to just try it and see.

Give another jumper harness a try if you know anyone that has one. As of right now its the only thing i can think of that would cause it.

Have you done the IACV fix to it? If not, this will cause the car to idle erractically and possibly put the car in limp mode and can easily be fixed by going to this site:
http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/w...g.jpg
Their is another wire under the hood that you'll have to change.
You can search by IACV fix and should be able to find it.
I also have an ek 2000 hatch with a 96 ls swap and had to rewire the IACV to prevent a rough idle. Hope this helps and don't try a new conversion harness because that most likely isn't the problem.

BTW, I'm also running a P74 OBD1 ecu with a obd2 to obd 1 wiring harness conversion and I had the same Idling issue before I did the IACV.
Late.

yeah, i've already done the 3-wire to 2-wire iacv fix, and it still does the same thing. i've tried the harness before and after i did that, and it still ran the same way. the pin is still in the harness for the wire that is supposed to be taken out, i just snipped that wire out and taped it off. i don't see why leaving the pin in it would cause anything like that though. i'm gonna try messing with the wiring, just by some chance that a bad connection is being made. if not, i'm gonna try to get ahold of another harness and try it out, and if that works, i'll just order a new one.
