OBD2A Car: Can I use a OBD2B Harness?
Ok, here it is: I have a 98 DX (OBD2A) without a wiring harness. I plan on putting a 2000 b16 (OBD2B) in the car. it comes with the harness and ecu. How different is the wiring? Does that tach need to be rewired? I'm just hearing rumors.. If anyone can clear it up that would be great.
Also, I plan on running a OBD1 ECU, If it matters.

it will work cuz i did it , the only thing that wont work on ur cluster will be the rpms. that can be fixed up by hookin up a tach straight to the coil in the dizzy.

The 96-98 harness has 3 plugs and the 99-00 has 2 plugs and then the rest is inside the dash. I dont know if its worth the trouble and how much needs to go in to make everything work. I was going to do it but ran out of time to try it so i just reused the harness i had. If it works more info would be nice for future reference.

Re: (pearl)
I don't think you can simply re-use your DX harness - you should be using the one that comes with the Si motor unless you are comfortable with running a bunch of loose wires separately. Search for a post by Katman - he has posted a number of diagrams that explain differences and what needs to be done to wire up the motor correctly.

Yes, you should use the Si harness. You might need to swap a couple of pins at the harness - all of this information will be on Katman's diagrams - the guy has done an immeasurable amount of research.

Re: (dynamo)
If you use the obd2b harness, for it to work you will also need to use the obd2b dash harness because one of the 3 plugs going into the ecu comes from the dash harness in an obd2b civic unlike obd2a where all 3 plugs come right off the motor harness.

ouch. so the verdict is: it can work, but it isnt worth it to make it work.
thanks guys.
