Default obd2 to obd1 swap???

i am putting a single cam v-tec turbo in my 99 dx coup and pulling that crap motor out! now i was wondering what to do with the plugs on the drivers side of the car? on the engine that i am getting there is 2 plugs. but on whats in my car now there is only one plug. what is the other plug for and how would i hook this up???? do i use the stock harness and just run a vtec wire? whats the best way to do this?

cheers

since im doing the same thing, heres what i know. vtec ecu, ecu harness repin or obd2b to obd1 conversion harness. use dx engine harness but modify it some. iacv needs to go from three to two wires, dizzy plugs go from one plug to two, and wire vtec. o2 sensors also change wiring some and obd1 one requires one o2 sensor. use obd2 alt. to save more wiring trouble. might be more but im tired and cant remember. and honestly your post is too vague.

Yeah, use your stock harness on the new sohc vtec. Get an OBD jumper for an OBD2-B setup. 99-00 cars (except HX D16Y5 model) use the A,B, and C plug on the ecu, 96-98 cars (along with 99-00 HX D16Y5) use the A, B, and D plugs on the ecu. If you get the wrong jumper, you'll get stuck.

You'll have to do some wiring on the harness to make it work with the motor, like stated the dizzy plug, add some vtec wiring (which you can wire right into the jumper), etc. If it's an OBD1 vtec motor then your crank fluctuation wiring can go (down by the oil pump housing), etc.

Your gonna need to do some reading, as well as get some diagrams for your car, as well an OBD1 diagram for a Civic. This isn't necessary, but having done wiring and swaps for years, trust me the more informed you are, the better off you'll be.

If you really feel like you can't hack it, then get someone to build the harness for you locally. Don't just let some quack do it though, be sure the guy knows what's going on (few and far between in my experience). Last resort would be to go through Rywire or Hasport....
