OBD2 motor swap and inspections
I am curious is anyone knows about what might happen with a motor swap (d16y7 to B18b) in a 96 civic?
I would swap in an OBD2 engine. But then I was told by a local guy he is not sure if it would still pass inspection because the inspection stations computer would be looking for a D16 and would find a B18.

i was checking with the regisrty about that in mass for my 97. the registry and the E.P.A. told me that as long as the computer thinks the engine is running properly you're fine. it could be a cummins turbo diesel. the only other thing they said i would be fine on but haven't checked is a vin mis-match, but the 98 ex computer i used did not store the vin, that was only the newer ecu's. even if it did end up on a vin mis-match report, they said i would need the car looked at by a registry official (statey) and as long as its all legit you're fine.
