OBD2 ECU Question

All kinda of import forums, none help me. Please help!
Ok I am running a 1999 Honda Civic with OBD2b and an Automatic transmission.
I am planning on a T3 turbo setup to attach to my d16y7. Ok so that is the scenario.
I plan to run Crome through a buddy of mine to reprogram an older 92-95 p06 obd1 automatic ecu for the engine management. This is where I am extremely caught up. Many people say yes Warren the P06 automatic ecu will work just fine for your transmission. But others state that no OBD1 ecu for an automatic will support the usage of my newer automatic transmission. Now who is right and who is wrong.
help would be appreciated. my friend strongarm says you all know your stuff.
