OBD2 to 0BD1 conversion info needed
How can I tell if there has been an OBD conversion done on my car from 2 to 1? Can I tell by visualizing the connector and if so; what do I look for?
New purchase; OBD11 data port = no communication. Car runs great; prev. owner says it has obd2; engine swap shop says it "may have been" converted.
OBD1 means it will never pass emissions in CT. Car is a '96; had an egine upgrade.
I need to know ASAP to negotiate a return and refund if necessary.
Thanks

Yes, there is a way to tell. I don't think it will matter if the wiring harness was changed to OBD1.
I believe everything is up to the ECU.
If your car is a 96, it will be OBD2a.
If you "think" it's converted to OBD1, then it shoiulkd have a jumper harness.
Should be an extra attachment to connect your ECU.
I don't have any pics, but hopefully someone will post the difference from OBD1 to OBD2a.
