OBD II swap over OBD I
I will be buying my GSR swap withing the next few weeks for my 2000 civic hatch. Now in NYS, we will be having emissions testing in OBD II cars, so a OBD I engine will not pass. Are there any disadvantages to going with a OBD II engne. I could still get hondata, but I would just need the conversion harness right? Any info would be awsome. thanks.

that's correct now go away
why don't you start by calling your local state emissions regulatory board and find out how they treat modified vehicles. Every state differs. Then, find out if they connect to your car computer diagnostic port (really the only reason they would need OBD2). If yes, Hondata is most likely out, since ONLY OBD1 computers can be used for Hondata. There are no disadvanages to an OBD2 motor unless you start ******* with it... in stock form OBD1 B18C1 and OBD2 B18C1 would perform identically.

Re: OBD II swap over OBD I (bbarbulo)
Yes, they will be doing a OBD scan, and checking for reset codes and such.
This is what they are doing.
1)Link OBDII to Albany
2)Scan registration (window sticker) (this gives Albany all your info including VIN)
3)Run OBDII scan (All systems must be functioning, in other words the car must be fully warmed up)
4) If it passes Albany prints a sticker on your printer.
