Default OB2 GSR motor into a 1992 Civic CX...can I attempt my first swap myself?

Well...I did a search and found out my car is pre-wired for vtec. ( i guess 92's are)
Anyhow..Imma be purchasing a 00-01 gsr motor.

Now is this hard to do ..besides labor wise.

Is there any difficult wiring I need to do?

Will the harness on the 00-01 gsr motor work with my 92 Cx wiring harness?

Can I use the OBD2 ecu the gsr motor comes with?

Please go over the basics with me..I wanna learn..but wanna know what all imma need to purchase to attempt this swap.
I really dont feel like towing the car to get the swap done

Thanks guy..as always..your the most help

you can use the gsr harness. it plugs right in to your civic engine bay plugs. now grab yourself an obd1 gsr ecu and wire up the secondary butterflies and knock sensor and youre good to go. all 92 hathces are pre wired for vtec so dont worry about that.

edit: i may be wrong with the whole 2000- 01 thing. anywho search it up and see what you find and if im wrong then im sorry for giving misinfo.

yes he is correct. i know someone who is selling obd1 gsr ecu. i think they're called p72. his h-t name is "dunkd"

if you have a spare buck or two, grab skunk2 manifold. they do wonders, and your vtec will crack single stage...it'll sound like an r !!!!

there's lots of info on this at the top of the eg/ek page in the faqs.

to answer, if you use the obd2 harness, you just use the obd2 injectors/dizzy/everything. the harness plugs into the civic chassis harness at the shock towers. you just have to manually wire in the iab, and knock sensor. (and evap if you want, and vtec if you have to, but you don't).

And then just use an obd1 ecu, like the p72.

i just did this swap about 3 weeks ago, and can help you out if you like, just pm me. i'll probably be putting up a website going over it as well if you want to reference that.

yeah i just did my swap about 3 weeks ago too for the first time. it was pretty easy. i lucked out and didn't have to run any extra wires whatsoever. since you're swapping in an obd2 motor you might want to convert it back to obd1 with the ecu and jumper harness.
