O2sensor question about header install
97 honda civic D16 vtec five speed STOCK!
hey everybody i looked in the FAQ but didnt see anything!
My friend is wanting install a header/exhaust on his car. His catalytic converter is located on the manifold right on the front. If we remove the cat it will pop a catalyst low effiency code and go into limp mode CORRECT?
since the cat is right up front we thought about going with a universal cat but then we would have to extend the wires way far and install some O2 bungs.
He is trying to stay to a low budget.
Is there a O2 simulator that can be purchased? or do you need to get an OBDII to OBDI coversion harness and ECU?
what do you guys recommend? any opion welcomed THANKS

Re: O2sensor question about header install (Vistage)
I'm not so much worried about location or exhaust design.
No cat / test pipe / gutted universal converter would be great?
I guess my main question is how do you eliminate the catalytic converter without setting a code on an OBDII vehicle? dont want to have poor MPG an no VTEC!
