Default o2 sensor/ other problems.

well, i took my car in for an exaust check up to see if there was any leaks, no leaks but they found a melted o2 sensor, and i was wondering my car has been like shutting off automaticly lately, i i mean for like 2 months now, i have replaced distrbutor rotor, replaced the spark plugs, and plug wires, and it seemed to not shut off as much as it use to, so i was wondering could the car be shutting off for no aparent reason because of the melted o2? thanks in advance.

Shutting off as in, Driving down the road in gear or even when your parked at a stop light the car just shuts off.......it does start back up though....

sounds like the symptoms of the main relay going bad to me.

the O2 sensor itself is melted? or the wires are melted?
If the O2 sensor was melted or the wires are melted to the point of being an issue, you will have a CEL. Is your CEL on?

the wires are melted, but its the secondary o2, im converting to obd1 so it shouldnt be a problem after i get the ecu in this weekend, and do you know how much it would cost to get the main relay replaced?

What year, model...?

There was a recall for the ignition switch on 6th gen Civic's, not sure if it was all years or not. One of the symptoms was the car shutting off randomly.

if you can solder you can repair it for free.
and yah, if you have a 6th gen check with the dealership on the ignition switch.

its a 99 civic hb dx, with a b16a2 swap, so i dunno, i brought it to honda like 2 months ago, and they didnt say anything bout recall, the only thing honda said was the accords got a call back on the ignition thing, and then they gave me like a whole list of things that could be wrong with the car, lol, main relay was one, fuel pump was another, and the whole igniton itself......so beats me, im gonna prob replace the m. relay this weekend, and then we'll see how things go, and if that doesnt fix the problem then i guess the next thing is the fuel pump, then if that doesnt work.......haha

your o2 sensors is not going to shut off your car or anything like that. i have no o2 sensors and my car runs fine except for those bright *** damn check engine light lol.btw it could be a lot of things i suggest you buy a haynes manual from your local auto zone and go from there.
