Wow that price for an o2 sensor is ridiculous, you could get a wideband for that price. Go to a junkyard and get a stock one.

OEM replacement o2 sensors are 60 or less for a brand new DENSO or NGK unit from sparkplugs.com , with no splicing

Make sure you're talking about the same O2 sensor we are talking about. There are two types - the 5-wire wideband (which he asking about) and the more common 4-wire narrowband which generally cost about 60 bills. Yes, the LSU4.2 wideband sensor is pretty cheap...around 60 or so as well - but that sensor isn't compatible with Honda ECUs.

for that price it may be worth looking into a y8 swap. i picked one up for 400, with 70k on it. look around local for one. id rather get a new engine then spend 300 on an o2 sensor for a shitty engine.

I'm going off what EE_Chris pointed out since the first link doesn't work for some reason. Which is an O2 for a VX. (36531-P07-003)

search Ebay, I see that O2 go on there for ~$120.

If you can't find one search for a NGK L1H1 or NGK L2H2, it's the same sensor.

I don't know how much a 5 wire wideband is on there, but I ordered the universal 4 wire for cheap for my Y8. It was about $150 - 200 cheaper than the OEM from SanLeandro (the cheapest OEM price I found).

yeah they had a wire listed instead of the 5, give them a call you never know

edit*yeah 423 when you search by honda part#, you could prolly get a whole vx engine from someone for close to free people are always ripping them out for swaps * if not you could probably get a complete sohc vtec swap for that price*

Or get a Bosch one from AutoZone for $166.99? I can get the 4 wire cheaper, so going the cheaper route would be the best for me.

Or maybe I'll search locally for a used engine. Still, MPG is going to be in my mind.

How have you come to believe that using a 4-wire O2 sensor would even work with the Vx/Hx ECU? It doesn't - they aren't compatible and there is nothing you can do to try and make it work.....unless of course you do not have this ECU, so do you?

Your initial post asking about a $400 sensor can really only imply one sensor type for a Honda - so I"m assuming you do indeed have a Vx or Hx.

I don't know all that much about the vtec-e motors, but how about this idea. It makes sense that he could get a used p28 ecu and then use a regular 4-wire o2, right? It'd cost &lt;$200 to do this, and if nothing else, would require just a few pins moved.
