o2 sensor on catalytic converters?
just wondering...
I was lookin on ebay at catalytic converters just to replace mine, not looking for a racing one, and some of them had 2 o2 sensors on the ends? i jacked up my car to see if mine had any but the shields are in the way and I don't have lifts or nething to get under there to take off the shields. i was wondering if all converters had o2 sensors? should i get the converter with the 2 o2 sensors or does it not matter?
and while I'm on the topic of exhausts, is there any1 out there that took off their stock resonator on their exhuast and welded on a straight thru pipe? and if u did, is there any power loss? any noticeable sound difference?
any info is greatly appreciated. thx again h-t
------
and this is really random but does my gas mileage go down now that my intake resonator is off? for some reason I've noticed my gas go down a lot faster than when my resonator was on. maybe it's just me cuz I was doing a lot of driving yesterday but it went down pretty fast for only one day.

obd2 cars (96+) have 2ndary o2 sensors
There wouldnt be much point of removing the stock resonator and leaving the rest. The only thing you'd get is a raspy, louder exhaust.

Yup, when I installed my header on my EJ1 (obd1) it only has the o2 on the exhaust manifold. Dogg is correct, 96+ Civics being OBD2 have the additonal o2 sensor.

Re: (JDM-EJ1)
so get the converter with the 2 o2 sensors I mentioned....?
heres the link to the one I'm looking at getting:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1
(as u can see it has the 2 o2 sensors)
and like u said 96+ civics come with additional o2 sensors so again, thats the one I should get correct?

you have one sensor in your header, one in the cat
You dont need a cat w/ 2 sensor locations...thats just dumb
In fact, dont even get that "cat" because all it is, is a test pipe w/ some honeycomb crap in it (at most). Dont waste your money

Re: (amej8)
get a test pipe (because it flows better?) w/o a o2 sensor bung so you would get one for like a obd1 car. then wrap the secondary o2 sensor w/ aluminum foil to avoid any cel.

whats wrong with the stock one?
Carsound makes good cats, so does Catco. Both come in larger sizes and are legal becuase they DO somehing, as opposed to what youre looking at
