Default O2 Question

I have a 96 Ex Civic with a B18c1(GSR) swap

Recently i added Seafoam to clean out the engine gunk. I put some in the gas tank, fed some though the brake booster and added some to oil.

I did as recommended and ran the car above normal for 15min. When i hit 3rd gear and hit around 7k rpm the primary o2 sensor cel came on. I pulled over and shut the car off for a while and i thought this was normal since i added seafoam. Turned back on after 3min and code was gone, and i drove normal all the way back home.

Car runs fine but now whenever i hit 6-8k rpm on 2nd and 3rd gear the primary o2 sensor cel comes on. If i turn off car for a min or 2 it goes away.

Is my o2 sensor bad?

CEL code is 01 btw

Test the sensor or use a buddies for a quick test. It's possible that you will need to replace it after seafoam. Usually I would take out all 02 sensors and use test pipe for this process.

You ran it through the brake booster or the line that comes off the booster?(I'm guessing the line hopefully)

Also make sure you are reseting the ecu as well.

my tacoma did the same thing after seafoam. I end up having to replace the forward o2 and the cel when off. Just my experience with it

Lol yeah the line not in the brake booster itself. I'll see if i get it tested and if bad replaced. I just started classes again and kinda busy with books and what not, but thanks for your info

the can of sea foam says oxygen sensor safe BUT i still dont trust it.....id still pull all the o2's out and run a test pipe... my y5 has a 5 wire primary and its like 350 bucks brand new so i dont take any chances.

like the others suggested... test the sensor or use a different known working o2... if the o2 is the problem, try cleaning it first and if it still throws a code... get a new one

if you dont want to risk running sea foam... i suggest using water instead.... its the same process.. just takes longer..... and you must use about 1 gallon of water for it to do anything
