NRG steering lock - worth the security?
well, i am thinking of installing a quick release on my 93 civic. and was wondering if anybody has used this lock. NRG claimes it is inpenetrable. but i've searched and haven't seen any commments from anybody (maybe that's a good thing?).
so, i was wondering if it's worth the money.

Any removable steering wheel with a key design to it is better than nothing..
Layer your security measures..
Sounds decent. I haven't messed with NRG's, but I have had my tekniq release hub for several years and love it.

thanks for the quick replies. i just worried about spending the money, and it be some type of cheap crap that can be broken into faster than a club.

My friend has one for his car and the key that comes with it is one thats almost impossible to pick. As long as each key is different then its damn near perfect (damn near due to the fact it could get drilled.

you have to be a moron to leave the keys in the lock. though there are people out there like that, trust me i'm not one.
well, thanks guys. now that you've pretty much convinced me, i'm going to have to put it on my valetines wish list and hand it over to the wife.

There is a flaw on this lock. And I will not state what it is, due the fact that there are possible thief on the forum.

Nice info here, I was supposed to get an NRG quick release when I bought my entire steering wheel kit. That didn't go through all that well, but now at least I know it's worth looking elsewhere.

no, don't mention the flaw. i know NRG has pictures of them trying to drill at it. but it's the manufacture, you know. they're going to do what it takes to sell there product.
but, over all, i'm really considering it.

Ofcourse, I'm not going to mention it. Even if you PM me, I won't tell.
Yeah, I know that picture was from NRG. Don't get me wrong. This a great product. Without it my hatch would've been gone a long time ago.

Not worth it. A thief could still fab something up, or there is the good ol tow truck. So its not a 100% guarantee, yes it may prevent theft, but you are removing your airbag, which is a HUGE thumbs down if something happens to you. There are many ways to make your car more secure that do not compromise your safety THIS much. I'd really research another option, but tahts just me.

hey man these fools are already racing around in tin car rice-mobiles, half of them pull out the bumper supports, some rock non-reclinable seats, some rock seatbelt harnesses that are so improperly installed that it would break the persons spine in an accident,
i dont think they care about bags!!
