noticeable handling difference if I install Rear Sway Bar on Civic EX ?
Will there be a noticeable handling difference if I install Rear Sway Bar on Civic EX ?
(2000 coupe)
when will I notice the difference if any? in corners going fast or what ?
I'm thinking the 13mm OEM.
thanks

Search.....this topic is everywhere. To answer your question....you will notice a positive difference of corse. However unless you get a deal on all the stuff, I would rather save up a couple more dollars and get the Beaks or Comptech rear sway/tie bar combo for a little more. Much thicker bar plus strengthening and reinforcing the rear chassis. I have the Beaks kit......ITR bar w/oem end links and a custom aluminum reinforcing/tie plate similar to Comptech's however much larger and thicker and I wouldn't give that combo up for the world. Unless you are autoxing you really don't need it.......Very nice BLING factor though.

yea, I've thought about getting thicker diameter.
I just don't want any massive oversteer or understeer from not matching up the front and rear sway bars.
I searched google, recent and archived HT b4 p0sting , thanks for your concern tho (Sl0wEH2)
thanks for the positive replies

Find a Civic Si and drive it - that will give you a good idea.
I'd personally go larger.

Re: noticeable handling difference if I install Rear Sway Bar on Civic EX ? (Targa250R)
why larger ? just more rigid ?
I'm afraid of understeer or oversteer if I get too big of one so I figured I'd get what the Honda Engineers thought was the right one , 13mm Si one
thanks again people

The 13mm oem bar is a good addition to an ex with the 22mm front for street purposes. I'm running one right now, but plan to upgrade to a comptech setup down the road. I got the SI setup for $50 from a salvage yard.

let me know if you want to sell that 13mm one, once you upgrade to a comptech setup down the road.
I've searched the junkyards around here with no luck.

Re:strut bars, non-adjustable .vs adjustable, over or understeer with larger than OEM Rear Sway bar?
bumpy
why larger ? just more rigid ? kinda worried about over or understeer if I put on a Rear Anti-Sway bar thats bigger than 13mm
also, which do you all think is better, non-adjustable .vs adjustable front and rear strut bars, ?
will I have to tighten the bolts a lot on an adjustable one ? Ractive one is like $50 and its adjustbale, I know I can get the bolts welded too
which brands would you people recommend for upper front and rear strut bars, and Rear Anti-Sway bars ?
so many out there, which ones are known for quality, good customer service, etc.. ?
hmmm, non-adjustable .vs adjustable, that is the question
yes, I've searched HT and google for answers
thanks, trying to make informed purchases

You obviously haven't done a search if you're asking all those questions.

etc
Try again.
Anyway, a 22mm rear bar has no place on a car that never sees the (!drag) track. Most people have no idea how to handle an oversteering FWD car and chances are, if you're goofy enough to buy a 22mm bar and never race on it, you're goofing around on the street a lot and you'll probably end up in a tree.
Personally, I love my 380f/450r 21mm front/22mm rear set-up....
Anyway, Comptech rear bar is the only way to go for 22mm bars. It's adjustable, the endlinks are good quality heim-jointed adjustable ones.
Strut bars are worthless, get whatever you feel like getting, or don't.
I have no idea what you're talking about when you talk about welding bolts and having to adjust bolts a lot on adjustable bars. Not a damn clue.
And no, don't buy an "Ractive" anything, no matter how many stickers you see for Ractive on Art-n-Motion show car trailer queens.

Re: Re:strut bars, non-adjustable .vs adjustable, over or understeer with larger than OEM Rear Sway
OK
Re: (degooser) »
A rear sway bar helps the rear end come around more (oversteer). Very helpful during autocross/roadracing.
"I have no idea what you're talking about when you talk about welding bolts and having to adjust bolts a lot on adjustable bars. Not a damn clue."
someone in another thread was saying how you could get an adjustable strut bar, tighten to where you want it then have the bolts welded so its no longer adjustable
"and having to adjust bolts a lot" I don't want to have to re-tighten the bolts every week or so because it's adjustable and they have come loose. hence, the welding comment
sorry SkyeC , did a little searching on HT, obviouly not enough though, I didn't find half these threads (Honda.F1 kicks himself in butt for not seaching thoroughly)
thanks all, I think I have all my questions answered

Obviously that "someone" has never even seen an adjustable sway bar before . . .

Honda F1--your PM's are disabled.
I have a stock 99 Si rear sway that I'm looking to unload. The endlinks are shot because I had to cut them off the car (New England winters owned them) the the bracket hardware is in tact.
Make me an offer if you're interested. I have a bunch of members in the DFH forum who would vouch for me.
