Nose Mask Durability
I finally got one, a real one, and it's brand new. How will snow/rain/car washes/sun effect it? Has anybody really kept their on their car all year?

sell it...
i do body work on the side. done quite a few cars and those are no good. unless your driving a beater with a jacked up already paint job i wouldn't recommend using it.
think of it like this... sun fades paint. if your car isn't in the garage all year round you are going to fade out all around that bra. and when you take it off you are going to have minty looking paint just where the bra was.
yes it will protect you from rock chips but at the cost of a 2 toned front end. rain really wont do too much i wouldn't think, i would be more worried about snow and all the salt that comes with the snow. when that melts down and gets under the bra you are going to have a salty water mixture that will more then likely cause some rust to start if there are any bad spots.
but what do i know i am just trying to get my post count up...right? ;-) so here it is useless post #714
btw totally wrong section, there is a paint/body section on here. its new but not that new.

Yeah he's right. I had the top bra on my hood for a lil while and noticed it starting to fade. There just no good unless your going on a road trip and wanna save your hood from getting chipped up.

I keep it garaged and the paint on my hood is pretty fresh. It sounds like if I want my nose mask to last a long time, which I do because they're expensive, I need to take it off if I know my car will be under the sun for long periods of time.
I know more people own them in this section, I just don't know how they take are of them. I remember one guy saying he only uses his for shows and meets.

Sorry for not searching better, I found a thread with NOFX covering this topic, so it's very thorough. Here's to anyone else who also needs this information:

I've wanted one way too long. I ♥ OEM knick-knacks too much to not own one.

I bought one too! Theyre awesome! I bought one to cover the chips on my hood and the dent! XD. I take it off for car washes and I've had it for just about a month now. My cousin and our friends like to trade it around. haha. "No I wanna wear the bra today!"

Cool beans, lol. I like the way the nose mask looks when the H emblem is removed, otherwise there's a bump there, and eventually it would stretch a bump into the nose mask.

When I bought my car 92 Civic in 2002, it came with the upper bra which only covered the tip of the hood. It looked nice and all, but when I went to remove it one day, I noticed that it had trapped all sorts of rotten water, dirt, grime in there, and that portion of the hood was tinted a bit yellowish. Never used it since.
They will certainly help with rocks on road trips, but to keep them on 24/7 I wouldn't recommend.

I would be more wary of the bra becoming wet and not drying out, which could potentially cause paint damage.
The paint fade would at least take awhile and require your car to not be parked in the shade or garage and not taken care of with routine details.

1lowsol has brought attention to the flaw with bra's. The outcomes he stated are true, if you must buy one only use it occasionally and I'm not sure about rain longevity
