Default NOS pros and cons

I have a DX and the cheapest and easiest way I think to make power is NOS. But in talking to buddies of mine so say yes & other say hell no. Will my motor last or will it just blow up. I'm thinking of a 40-50hp shot, I have i/h/e all ready and also updated fuel reg. and ignition. What do you guys think on the pros and cons of NOS!!! Thank You

Your right NOS is just cheap horsepower. I wouldn't use myself. But 40-50 shot you should be fine, just bump up the fuel a lil and u may need to retard the timing a lil if using a lil more of the juice. The motor will last as long as not not hitting the button evey ten minutes

I had a zex kit running 55 shot on my CRX I had. I had about 145xxx on the engine it ran great. Just make sure you don't constatly hit the button and make sure you use Very premium gas.

It is a very cheap and viable option to turbo depending on your power goals. I am in the process of puttign together a turbo kit and I have given N2O some second thoughts. It would be cheaper to get a N2O system with around a 55 shot or so. Less **** to buy. N2O doesnt kill motors....users kill motors. IF your engine is in decent shape and you do regualr maintenance and have soem gauges to monitor your different parameters and dont act like a retard when using it....you should be okay

Spend a few hours searching for information about this ****.. you'd have to think that a honda message board with 3 or 4 million posts in its database would have covered something like this.

Adding FI will magnify any problems that already exist with ur engine and ur slush box.. I would take everyone's advice, and do a auto -> manual swap.. or even a full engine swap to a different d series if ur poor.

where and how the hell do you do a auto to manual for 500 bucks?!?!? I too have an auto and have been looking into doing the swap, but used trannys alone run you 500. SO its hard finding ALL the other parts neccesary to do the swap for under lets say....a grand at least.

If you're paying $500 for a DX's tranny ur getting screwed.. you could probably find someone willing to just give u one or pick one up at a junkyard.. I know I gave mine away for free.

thank you for your replies so far.
i have been looking into a tranny swap, even for a zc tranny with lsd for cheap in good shape. But the labor and rest of the items are a killer, also here I need a different ECU.

I love my zex kit...

.033 jet
bosch platnium -2 deg
stock timing when I jump for the 75hp jet for the track or those pesky V8's I retard it some times...

With my new z6 set up and fullt built head Im thinking mid 13's as is...

here is a really shitty vid but you go get the point...
http://members.***.net/er1c/civikciracer1.avi

This was with the b7 head and fully built tranny and a .033 jet... Braking traction into 3rd gear is fun

If you do it right...you can be very fast.

RyanCivic2000 and Mista Bone are the nitrous guys to talk to around here...

Ryan ran a 14.2 with a 75 shot with I/H/E on a 2000 EX, and mista bone is running 13.0 with a stock d16z6 and an 85 shot in a 93 hatch...

Nitrous done right

damn $500 for a tranny! You should be able to find plenty of even d16z6 or y8 trannys on here which are way better than the d15b7 tranny for 250 or less i would think. 500 is just insane.
