if you fill it from the speed sensor you still gotta remove the bolt where you would normally fill it , so it starts to pour out. thats how you know when its full..

should have taken like 2-2.5 thats the reason it pops out of gear you have too much fluid

Definitely way toooooo much fluid and that is what is causing it to pop out. My H22 only takes 2 qts.
Like others said, you have to remove the fill plug and make sure you're on level ground when you fill it. With the fill plug out, it is impossible to ovefill the tranny because it will simply run out of the fill hole once it's full.

my vote is that your trans is going. Was it whinning real bad before you put in the new oil? did you replace an axle recently or anything. some more info on anything done with the trans would help. I have known people replace axles and not realize that the oil spilling out went into the trans, and not put any extra back in.

How did you drain the oil from the tranny? Too much oil or very low to no oil will cause you to pop out of gear like you describe. Did you pull the fill plug on level ground and just let it drain out there until it stopped?
Trust me I have personal experience with the low oil scenario. When I put my motor in a couple of us were working on it and we all neglected to fill the tranny with oil.... real dumbass thing to do but **** happens. Anyhow lets just say my tranny is bullet proof because I drove with no oil and it popping out of 5th gear for a couple days before I realized what had happened. I pulled the drain plug and to my dismay it was bone dry, not even a drip... I almost **** myself and got that sinking feeling that I was going to be buying a new tranny. Anyhow, I filled it to the fill hole and it has been fine ever since.

I've heard of a lot of people filling it through the VSS hole but I wouldn't. It seems like more of a pain that way. I would just pull the fill plug like your supposed to. Not sure why people fill it that way but hey each to their own right
