Noob swap question
Right now I am looking for a 96-00 coupe or hatch. I want to swap a B18c1 in it. 96-00 are obd II right? Does this means I would have to have an OBDII b18c1? I plan on doing a few things like I\H\E and maybe some morr agressive cams like ctr or sks1. I have heard people talk about chipped ecu's. Is this when you just take your ecu out and have a custom program put on it or is it a whole new ecu? Please don't flame me. Thanks for any help.

Re: Noob swap question (BME1986)
Yes, you would have to use the OBDII ecu, but you don't have to stay OBDII. You can buy a conversion harness to switch it to OBDI. Makes tuning easier.

Re: Noob swap question (1hotcivicSi)
Yea i would prob buy the skunk intake manifold so changing the ecu doesn't screw up the intake manifold.

Your SI is obd2 already so why would you need a different manifold????

Re: Noob swap question (BME1986)
OBDII ecus are very hard to chip, and modify.
Plus OBDI ecu has less sensors to worry about.
there are your 2 big plus to make your car OBDI right there.
you don't have to get a OBDII engine. Get whatever you like. the engine you get, should come with the ecu. just use that, or you can always convert car to OBDI like the guy couple of post above me said.
