Default Noob question-transmission

Howdy all!

So I'm driving a beat up old 98 Hatch, and I have either a throw out bearing or input shaft bearing that's shot, and I decided at 235k miles, I might as well just replace the whole damn tranny if I'm gonna spend 10 hours of my precious life under this scrap heap. So I just got back from the yard, and all they had was a tranny from an Si (that only had 82k on it! /cheer). He said it'll fit, and I believe him, but I was wondering if there are any differences at all between the two?

I kind of assume it's an upgrade, lol. But I figured I'd ask all you friendly, knowledgeable folks here at honda-tech to get the real info. I did some searching, and all I found was a link to some gear-ratio calculator that only had the Si on it.

Thanks in advance, and wish me luck on the swap!

-Andrew

p.s. he didn't charge me a core deposit, how much can I get for my old one? Besides the bearing and over 200k the damn thing was perfect.

it'll fit if it's a 92-95 si. if it's a 99-00 si, it will not fit.
