yes heres some more info from the faq...

ZC: (similar to D16Y4, D16A8, D16Z6, D16A1, D16A3, D16A6, D16A9 and D16Z5 engines)

There are both SOHC and DOHC ZC engines.

The non-VTEC SOHC ZC is similar to the D16A6 (before '96) and D16Y4 ('96-2000) engine, but with more aggressive cam timing.

The VTEC SOHC ZC is identical to the D16Z6.

The DOHC ZC is similar to the D16A1, D16A3, D16A8, D16A9 and D16Z5 engines.

so all in all this is a pretty decent swap for the 94 cx hatch? keep in mind i traded an older honda cb750 motercycle that didnt run for this car! the car had a bad trany and a bad clutch and the guy got it off of his brother for a tbucket and he didnt get the lug key so he couldnt get the wheels off to change the clutch and trany. so he traded it to me with an extra trany and the clucth has a liftime warenty so it was free. so all in all it was a good trade on my part right? the car has a little body work that has to be done but besides that it runs and drive amazing after i got the trany and clutch in.

I have the understanding that the jdm zc such as the d15b sohc did in fact come with vtec. i also understand that if u make a minime u have to have some extra stuff to make the vtec work. mine works with no extra stuff involved. I am not trying to be difficult im just trying to make shure i get everything right.

Nonsense. As already stated in this thread; there are SOHC VTEC, SOHC non-VTEC, and DOHC non-VTEC ZC engines. < That is a FACT, not speculation.

Now whether a specific ZC engine originally came with a VTEC head or not, that's a different story. It could be the VTEC ZC engine, or a non-VTEC ZC engine with a VTEC head on it. There's just no way of knowing, unless someone buys the engine themself; even then there is a very small chance someone in Japan could have done a head swap.
