Do you have the VTEC harness? Meaning do you still have the plugs for the VTEC solenoid and oil pressure switch in the engine bay? The ECM/PCM knows the sensor and solenoid are there by reading resistance. Try putting resistors in place of the sensor and switch. Don't know if it will work but, at this point it's worth a try.

I know in my state we have the option of registering mods or swaps with insurance companies in order to make it legit.I hope this helps a little.Peace

You will need to get the correct ecu to work which is a 96-98 obd2a p2e and it won't look for the vtec sensor, also check the wiring it may just be easier to get the harness for a 96-98 which is obd2a, maybe the one you tried is a 99-00 obd2b?

what year is the ecu that you already tried?

I agree that you need the proper ecu considering it is obd 2 and where i live they just check you gas cap for leaks and for any dtcs.I have a b18b in my eg hatch and it passed fine Even with multiple emission components disabled, not to mention a skunk2 throttle body, skunk 2 manifold, msd 6 al with ignition voltage amplifier plus bigger injectors. This year was last time i have to go thru that shizzle because it will be Historic soon.Fudge the bay and all its wildlife.Sorry i have bad adhd with a slight case of turrets.Peace and chicken grease.

the car would run, it would run with a CEL, and very rough. all the both of them do it tell the ecu to run efficiently, just remember they didnt have cat's or o2's before 88'. all it is, is a money grab.

my 95 eg wouldnt pass for the life of me, so i changed both out, with a pretty penny of course, but the car passed like it had 5kms on it. and it was a non vtec, skunk2 intake, ported polished head, +2 deg skunk2 cam gear, full CAI, DC headers and skunk2 exh.

good luck.

You keep saying non-VTEC ECU but I don't see where you actually said WHAT ECU you have.

Sorry man. I'm not going to assume you have the correct one installed nor that you know what is the correct ECU is. There's NO WAY a non-VTEC ECU should throw codes for VTEC when it isn't even looking for it so that is a big red flag for me. I can put my DX ECU in my EX and never get any VTEC codes.

Assuming you have a 5 speed you'll have to convert from a two wire to a three wire IACV with the P2E. Not sure what O2 sensors you speak of but as long as you have both plugged in you should be fine (assuming you have a cat).

New wiring and you'll need the auto Y8 throttle body or you can use any Y7 throttle body but you'll have to swap over throttle rotors from your Y8. On these throttle bodies the IACV is built into the throttle body itself.

The Y8 auto throttle body is basically the same as the Auto/5speed Y7 throttle body (IACV built in) but has a different throttle rotor than the Y7 because of the orientation of the throttle body (Y7 TB points up, Y8 TB points side ways).

To many people talk when they should'nt and scrap this forum...

I just but a Jdm b18b into a black2001 USDM black leather GSR b18c1...

The ecu is a gsr 2001 OBD2b p72 and at first trow many code....

code 1337 cuz jdm dont have crank angle sensor...But when I read other forum it told me how to bypass this sensor and it dont trow 1337 anymore

I had no IAT cuz its a jdm engine I used a ebay resistor chip and shut down the code...

Now the only code left is vtec malfunction code 1259...
I can rev 8200rpm the first 5 sec that the car just started....
After that I hit a fuel cut off at 4800 rpm and the car bug like hell...

SO THE REAL QUESTION HERE IS THERE A WAY TO BYPASS THIS CODE 1259 VTEC MALFUNCTION????

PLZ IF YOU DONT KNOW DO NOT LEAVE MESSAGE THAT SCRAP THE FORUM AND TELL NOTHING GOOD!!!

I DONT WANT TO BUY A OBD1 P75 ECU AND A EPROM CHIP FROM EBAY TO REV 8200rpm(sound like a Ferrari)

MUST BE A WAY TO BYPASS THE ONLY CEL CODE LEFT 1259 ????
