NON si guages in a si cluster
will a non si guages work in a si cluster? I have a si cluster but the tach and speedo are messed up. Can I put in a guage gear from a 99 tach and speedo and have it work and redline like the si?

Re: NON si guages in a si cluster (mikeycivic)
yeah but they have different faces than the ex's and such. so if just one or two of the guages dont work. get another si cluster and change out the guages or just change the whole cluster so everythign matches. i have a cluster from a 00 civic ex it you want it just let me know if you do then we can talk prices

No, because the gauges are calibrated differently. The tick marks and range of movement are different. It will not be accurate if you just swap the faces.
Find another cluster or buy new cluster components. The Si tachometer asssembly is about $80 new from Honda, and the Si speedometer/odometer assembly is about $155.

I am not swapping the faces I want to put the 99 GUAGE COMPONENT behind my SI GUAGE FACE IN MY SI CLUSTER, WILL THIS WORK?????

Re: NON si guages in a si cluster (Targa250R)
i thought you meant putting the whole 99 gauge and component in an si cluster. If the the component is run off the em1 ecu than why wont it work?

Because the tachs are calibrated differently so you can't swap the faces - like I've already told you. You need a complete Si tachometer to run an Si tachometer face.
After some digging, it appears that the speedometers are calibrated the same way, while the range of tick marks on the Si face is just longer - so you can probably swap the faces on the speedo/odo units without sacrificing accuracy.
If I were you, I'd try swapping the speedo/odo faces (compare them to make sure the tick marks actually are at the same points on the face), then just pony up the 80 bucks for a new tach.
