Default Non-Glowing Needles in Cluster...

Searched... nothing.

Anyone have a clue why my gauge cluster lights up but the needles don't?

It's a 96 EX cluster.

Is there a fuze on back for them or what?

It's real annoying to drive at night.

Thanks in advance...

thats actually pretty neat. Though they should offer more colors, and more models.

another is importintelligence.com

For these you must use clear needles like from an Integra to make them glow.

Of course they light up.

I have a picture to prove it.

I just don't know how to post it.

Anybody know why they wouldn't be working?

Host it with an online image hosting site. I'll suggest i-Serve. From there, post the picture in the <Img> tags.

And no, they don't light up.

That pic looks exactly how my 96 EX lights up. The needle is solid white, the only lights are behind the cluster and sending light thru the numbers and stuff.

No thats just the way mine is. Not sure how yours lite up (would be interested to see a pic of it tho). The needle is solid so there is no way it could light up. As far as I know there are 4 bulbs behind the gagues and that is it. No bulbs for the needle.

As far as I know, no Civic from 88-00 have needles that light up.

the needles DO NOT light up for civics. There are bulbs on the top side of the cluster, (shinning down) on the cluster. If you peep upward on the cluster you can see where they shine thru, thus shinning on your needles

Mike here from Kognition Design.
I developed and produce Lumi Needles.
In the early days of 2002 BC, i started playing around with trying to make my needles illuminate in my CRX. I am a product designer by trade, so this was a challenge to me.
The needles are plain white plastic, and are illuminated from overhead with two incandescent bulbs under a blue filter. This was the only way they had to illuminate
the needles. Evolution.
Our needles illuminate from an external ultraviolet light source. They contain the mineral
Ti O2 (Titanium Dioxide). Which rejects UV light similar to sunscreen. And the resulting reflected light has slowed to a visible blue wavelength. Then we add dye to the mix to get differenet colors. Red unfortunately was not bright enough, and we dropped that.
I had a big design issue with the 96-00 kit regarding lamp location, and so i am still working that out. In the meantime that model is not available.
Any other questions, just email me.
Mike

Thanks for all the support guys, sorry i wasn't knowledgable enough to know that ALL civics don't have light up needles. A simple "maybe your lights that shine on the needles might be blown" would have been nice. Thanks for all the f**kin support... AGAIN.

I can't believe the immaturity of some of the people in this post! You make me sick. God forbid if someone doesn't know everything about a car. I started the post to get answers not ridiculed for not knowing the answer. I believe that's why there is a honda-tech. And umm...grow up!

Dude, many people told you that the needles do not light up (including myself) but you kept insisting that they did. Yes this is H-T and it is for helping people and we did.
You asked, we answered, you kept asking, now people are flaming, you are crying. Thats just the way it is.

No one ridiculed you the first time around as it was a valid question. But then you kept insisting they did light up after you were clearly told they didnt. Dont worry about it man, we all get flamed at some point. Now ya have your answer tho
