noises coming when in higher rpms.
I just had a motor put in and a trans. When i go to rev it out at like 5-6 it makes this gringing type of sound. The tranny called for 10-w30 and I put pennzoil snyco mesh in someone told me that would be fine. The passenger side axle was messed up at the c clip and the idiot put the axle in and banged it in with a hammer. The Motor has 0 miles on it and is built. Also he tried putting the wrong clutch in and probably screwed up the splines. I was driving it today hit it up to where i said before and the car like jolted bad i dont know whats going on anyone help me out w this? Also where is the speed sensor located on the tranny? Also when im drivign normal at lower rpms I hear nothing.

First of all that is not how to break in a motor, you need to run it slowly with a lot of load. Drive it around in like 4 or 5th gear all the time and floor it to move, yes it sucks to drive slow for a while but its the right way to do it.
10w30 is not what any honda transmission calls for, it calls for honda MTF, and at 2.60 a quart, I dont know why more idiots use it.
Fire the guy that built your car and call him a chimp, because there is probably a lot of crap wrong with it.

i agree with the mechanic being a dumbass, but more and more i hear that running an engine hard for break in seats the rings better and overall improves longevity. you are referring to dealership recommended break in. run it slow to break in a clutch though. i bet you only change your oil every 5k miles then too lol.
to the op, whats grinding? engine? tranny? and what engine/transmission/CAR are you talking about??

the motor is broken in I have 2000 miles on it. My center console is off right now so I can hear it from the shifter port.and where the noise seems like its coming from is the passenger side transmission. The transmisson passenger side was the one he jammed in there. And I went to autozone and on their screen it said for the trans 10-w30 or 40.
Its a y8 head w a z6 bottom end. The motor is built and I know built motors are alittle noise but not like this.
Im gonna put the car up on jackstand tomorrow and shift it in the air to see where this noise is coming from.

Running it hard has to do with high throttle and mild engine speed, rapping it out will just cause excessive wear because the components have not fully worn in to building max torque, therefor redlining the motor will more than likely scour parts because they are not used to a high throttle load/rpm combo.
