Noise while engaging clutch

Noise while engaging clutch
When I swapped my motor (its been almost a year now) I had an ACT clutch and flywheel installed by the guys helping me. About a month after the swap, I started to notice a whirring noise coming from the tranny, only while letting the clutch pedal out. Once the pedal is all the way out, it is fine, grabs great. Now, it is happening almost all the time, cold or hot, and mostly out of first and second gears. Nothing feels wrong, it just sounds bad. I've taken the car to several shops and no one seems to know what it's from. The only thing I can think of is that when we did the swap I didn't have any grease at the house, so the guy took a little off the upper ball joint with his finger and slapped it on the release bearing. As it turns out, he has his own shop now and when I asked him about it, he said he has heard the noise before and fixed it by replacing the clutch disk. Anyone have any ideas?

I have the same noise with the Act clutch. It only occurs when i hold the clultch at the point of engagement for too long and u get this sound that sounds like ur peeling out.

Me and my buddy both have a a noisey clutch, his is worse than mine, Nothing really wrong with them jus that when you are sittin there in Neutral... and can hear the noise go away when you push the pedal in ... and then hear it start when you let it out.
Buddy's dad is the Head Tech at the local Honda Dealer, he said it sounds like a release bearing.

Re: Noise while engaging clutch (93_hatchie)
My car recently started doing the same thing. ACT HDSS w/ 13K miles + Fidanza flywheel.
It only occurs when I'm getting the car going from a dead stop and the revs are between 1500 and 3K RPM. If I keep the revs higher or lower than that, no noise as I release the clutch. It also only tends to happen after the clutch has warmed up a little, like after 2 or 3 miles of driving. The clutch performs perfectly otherwise.
The sound is made from the cluch slipping against the pressure plate and flywheel. My question is, why does it make the sound? Is the surface of the clutch disc or pressure plate/flywheel friction surface glazed? Does it signal emminent failure?

This is NOT a problem...
Probably the grease that comes with the bearing has dried a bit or there is some dust in there...
Remember, dust and grease do NOT go together ver well...
You do not have to worry about it cos I have a new clutch and it also squeels sometimes... it is normal and it was happening to all cars I had (Honda or not Honda)... I drove my Ford Sierra or 50.000 miles like that and nothing happened...
And or those who want to ask if you can grease the bearing from the outside the enswer is NO... tranny has to go down...
