Default Noise...sounds like metal on metal....

i swear every week it's something....

well after searching recent and archieved H-T threads, i found someone with a problem similiar to mine with no response....

cut and pasted:

well i noticed a weird noise from my car. first i will describe the noise
It sounds kinda like something metal, its hard to describe. its pretty loud, loud enuf to be heard over exhaust and big cams. its usually short like a second or too but ive heard it up to a few seconds. seems like its from the left side of the engine bay. at first i thought it was somthing rubbing against maybe my wheel or brakes as i just put new tires on so had the wheels off. kinda sounds like something spinning

now this is usually when it happens
i notice it usually at lower RPMS. never above 4k. </TD></TR></TABLE>

me and my friend have definitely pinpointed it as being around the driver's side. it never makes the sound while going in reverse only while driving or rolling forward. it seems to go away while driving, only appearing right before i come to a complete stop or when i'm about to resume driving.

ne opinions are welcomed as to what it could possibly be.

hmmmm. my car made the same kind of noise before i stopped and as i took off, it was my bumper support behind my bumper, two of the screws were missing and it vibrated against the frame making the noise, hope that helps you

bump... this screech was loud as hell on the drive home from work & school....

someone has had to have some type of experience with a noise like this....

it could possibly be the brake pad indicator but would that only make noise every tire revolution, this seems to only screech when once every time the tire completes a full revolution... i'm leaning towards pads... i don't know anymore....
HELP

hmmmm the screeching noise maybe because somethings bent like the dustshield, might want to check that out, i thought you said it was a rattling metal on metal noise? that was why i suggested the bumper support. if it was your axle, it would be more of thudding noise as you drove and/or clicking noises as you turned. keep us posted

it doesn't rattle... it's more like.... hmm.....

metal scraping metal, loud *** metal screeching sound... i have officially ruled out the pads b/c it scrapes at low mph with or without the brakes applied...

also....i don't know how i forgot, but i did.... i had three studs swapped on my the driver's side wheel which is where it's coming from, perhaps it got bent during the swap... i'll be under that car tomorrow trying to figure this stuff out.

i just hope its not a wheel bearing....
