Default Noise from passengers side

Hi. I have just changed my front rotors on 99 Civic and I am hearing a rubbing noise on the passengers side when I make left turns ..I took it bakc to the mechanic and they said everything looks fine and the explaniation they gave me was that the old routers have shaped the brakes in a way that the new rotors might be touching the brakes when I make left turns. They said the only way to fix the problem is to change the brake pads. Does this make any sense or is there anything else I can do to make the annoying rubbing noise go away???
