Default No Vtec

Hey whats up guys whats up? Well i got me a lil problem. I have a 92 CX and u sed to have a 94 GSR motor in it. But i blew the motor and I just put in a B16A from a 94 Sir II. and to make life easier I used the throttle body from a 2000 GSR so I could have it easy mounting the throttle cable. But for some reason V-tech wont kick in. The car runs fine all my fluids are fine no check engine light nothing just no vtech. I checked the wires and all but i cant see nothing wrong. Anyone have any ideas? thanx

How do you know VTEC is not kicking it? What method are you using to check?

Hook up a VTEC light to see if your vtec is working..but normally you should be able to hear/feel it.

the ECU looks at the Oil Pressure Switch, TPS, and RPM for VTEC engagement.

I've read one time that with B16's its pretty common that the engine wont establish full oil pressure until it warms up a little. But im sure all cold engines take longer to reach correct oil pressure when cold.

You said you replaced your thorrtle cable and throttle body? Maybe it's lose and not opening tb all the way therefore the tps not signalling ecu to engage vtec?

im pretty sure all vtec engines do this. i know my h22 wont hit vtec unless its a little warmed up.

I had a problem like that with my B16A too. Sometimd it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. In the morning time and after the engine was warmped up, the VTEC kicked in hard, but then by later on in the day when it was hot, VTEC doesn't engage.

Just a simple suggestion, but why don't you try hooking up a vtec engagment light and see what happens. What ECU are you using?
