Default NO-tec... LS vs B20

i'm in the midst of swapping and have narrowed it down to two motors, the B18b or the B20z. i'd like to keep it N/A and without adding a vtec head, but first i would like to hear what your views, thoughts, and comments are on both engines. which one do you recommed and why? which one has more potential? which one responds better with modifications? how does their low/mid/high range compare to each other?

first make sure its a B20z and not a B20b. But if it turns out a b20b then get a B18b head on it.

LS and B20 heads are the same.

higher displacement usually responds better with simple modification. but you are in california, where the b20 can NOT be BAR certified. depends what you want. power or legality.

well i went with a b18b and i have no regrets about it, i dont know anyone around here who went with a b20 non vtec and of course N/A and has put down good times..but ive ran 13's with just some head work on a stock block and tranny so i think you can do the samething, just giving you a figure of what you can do with these non vtec motors..

I have a JDM B20 in my delsol w/ GSR tranny, and it pulls real real nice. The tranny really needs an LS 5th though, the GSR 5th is just too short for highway driving.

Why are you against forced induction, or is it just not in the price range right now? because we all know that ls turbo is very fun same with b20 turbo

na=naturally aspirated

as long as you dont have a turbo or supercharger or NNNNNAAAWWWZZZZ or any other means of FI you are NA, so yes, a new head is NA still

B20s are classified as truck motors. can't put a truck motor in a passenger car according to BAR
