no speedo after swap replaced vss!
i swapped a y8 into a 96 hx and my speedo wont work so i bought a new vss and put a new plug on so i know its got connection and still no luck... it used to bounce around alittle before but still worked most of the time. The motor i bought sat up for a while could the alternator be causing the issue.. the battery isnt charging very well but i know the alternator isnt completely dead. Ichecked the fuses too. LMK what yall think please

Code 17 VSS - speed sensor
Check inside the plug That plug's into the speed sensor and make sure they didn't break off inside the plug.
Did you swap the vss's out with a known working one?
Also there's a good chance your alternator is about to take a BIG **** on you.

Re: no speedo after swap replaced vss! (sleeper101)
well i had no bulb in my check engine light so whoever had the car b4 me took it out... so for the past hour ive been taking my cluster apart and replacing the bulb and check all the connections and everything looks good. I put it back together fired the car up and no check engine light. what would be a good sensor to unplug to see if my check engine light will come on? that way i can make sure that isnt fuggin up too

Do you know how to jump codes off?
Unplug the map, or O2 sensor.. unplug which ever you want.
