I know this has been a past topic but none of the other threads have been specific to my prob. I have a 95 civic hatchback cx with a dx engine(super duper lame to super lame). anyhow, i just bought this car and don't know what happened when the speedo went out. There is no fuse label so I don't know if there is a missing fuse or what. From what I understand it just stoped working one day. Also, there is no engine light stating a bad sensor so its gotta be somthing else. Please help me

i have the same problem...have you checked the VSS on the tranny?

check the #15 under the dash on the drivers side.

Fuse #15, swap VSS with a known good unit, then swap the cluster with a known good unit. There's very little that can kill the speedo...it's a dead simple circuit.

I was about to post almost same problem as johnnyboy110. Aquired a 95 with a bad motor. Pulled a good motor from a 95 with auto and swapped into my 95 with manual tranny. Pulled the motor with wiring harness and swapped the harness before new motor installation. Car runs good, but, no speedo. Tach works, fuel gauge and temp gauge works. Lights in cluster do not work. I checked for blown fuses, all good. Wanted to know if maybe I did anything to recheck with the motor wiring harness before pulling the cluster. Is the VSS on my manual the three prong connection on top of tranny? The car was undriveable before I aquired it so not sure if this is something I did or inherited.
What is the easyest way to get the emergency flasher button out without scarring the trim panel. I recall that is where the "hidden" screw resides. Great help guys....

I checked the fuses and the #15 fuse was good. It was a 10amp instead of a 7.5 like another thead said
It should be. The whole lower row of my fuse block is blank meaning no fuses. Was wandering if someone

johnnyboy, I replaced my cluster with a known good one......did not work. Changed VSS swithch with a known good one. Does not work. I do not have low beam headlights either. Fuse 15 also powers marker lights, mine work, tag light, mine works , and tail lights, mine work. I am thinking my no power to the cluster lights may be what is effecting no speedo. Searching for a better wiring diagram also........j

Got everything working again. I replaced the light switch on the left side of the steering wheel and everything started back working. Have no idea how the speedo and cluster lights work thru the light switch but mine did. Good luck......
