NO FUEL NO SPARK WTF? HELP
ok so i got a d16y8 swapped into my 97 hatch. the motor is a 00 y8.
i did the 2 wire iacv fix.
i didnt wire up vtec yet.
well the mechanic said there is no spark, there is no fuel. also when you turn the key you dont hear the fuel pump.
could it be ecu related? could i have gotten a bunk ecu?
when you try to start it you hear the cranking but it just never starts.

Check the main relay, it's what powers the fuel pump. Located under the dash on the passenger side right behind that plastic panel. Let me know if you need pics. They're about $60 at your local Honda dealer. I have one I can ship if you need it.

is everything ground the way it should?
was everything working before the swap?

I'll try to to get pics for you.
How can you ground the block to the valve cover? That doesn't seem right at all.

Re: NO FUEL NO SPARK WTF? HELP (00ekcoupe)
the throttle cable stay goes on top of the valve cover, thats where the other end of the ground is. he used a bolt and put it in there....dont ask me why.
but grounds dont matter that much the car should start anyway right?

Can't find any pics but the main relay is to the right of the glove compartment door. So drop the glove compartment door, take the plastic piece off the side of the dashboard (the part that meets the door, held by 1 plastic trim screw), and there'll be a 10mm bolt there holding the main relay in place.
Looks like this:

Re: (00ekcoupe)
im glad they arent expensive. found some on ebay for 35 shipped
i dont think its that tho. because it worked prior to the motor swap

Re: (civicb16eg)
double check to make sure your plugs on the wire harness are plugged in all the way. my boy swapped in his b16 in his hatch and one plug on the shock tower wasnt in all the way, causing the motor to not get fuel.

i only have a single motor harness. i dont think its 2 pieces like the b series
but ill check on the inside to the clips that plug into the ecu

Re: (thebleek)
ok so i swapped the ecu back to my y7 ecu and still same problem.
so that rules out the ecu being bad.
so im thinking its the main relay.
but then i didnt see any ground wire going to the thermostat housing.
can someone show me a pic of where it connects to...or be descriptive.
i see the one that grounds my tranny. on the left side.
i just dont see the ground to the therm, which could be my spark issue, and maybe even why my fuel pump isnt kickin on

Re: (thebleek)
It's supposed to have a four wire junction connection on top of the thermostat housing screwed with a 10mm bolt. Those are sensors grounds and can cause you problems if not installed. You'll might have to double check your harness. It might got stuck around there somewhere when you reinstalled the engine harness. Also you should check the main relay as they mentioned before. Two weeks ago I had a DC2 in my shop that it wouldn't turn ON. The same problem, no spark, no fuel and they only installed a NOS system. When I checked the car it had the main harness all burned up and the main relay connector was affected. There's one cable that is supposed to communicate to the ECU and if it doesn't receives the signal the ECU won't know that you're trying to turn ON your car.

Re: (thebleek)
hes right i did a swap like a week ago and it was just a fuse..
if the car started before the swap i dont think its the relay..
it could be a short also..
shake ur wire harness and follow it to see if you got any cable while you were screwing..and then check ur fuse box under uur sterring whell..
i dont got the name of the fuse in top of my head but its a 15 and its located in the top right hand side of the fuse box..next to the srs..yup i hope it helps.

Re: (thebleek)
1) It's pretty easy to check whether the main relay is bad using a basic multimeter. In addition, old main relays can be repaired by soldering, if you have the tools and skill.
2) Is the main relay connector getting power from the battery and the ignition switch?
3) Is the distributor getting power from the battery when the ignition switch is turned ON?

i know you talked about not seeing wires grounded to the thermostat housing, but you need to locate them or your car simply wont start. the ground has a couple wire going into a square terminal that has a hole big enough to put a short 10 mm bolt through. i am almost certain that is your problem. also what engine harness did you use for your swap?

Re: (crazy-ej8)
I agree that that ground wire attached to the thermostat housing is critical for spark; however, I don't believe it is necessary for the main relay/fuel pump.
