Nope, NJ will not allow you. OBD2 cars require
1.) 2nd 02 sensor to monitor cat
2.) EVAP system valve to be reading correctly.
- you cant have ANY check engine lights.
- Car cant be lowered past a certain point.
If you ran an OBD1 motor, you would have to run an OBD1 ecu, which woudlnt pass becuase theres nothing reading for EVAP or 2nd o2.
B20 shouldnt be a problem as long as you use the correct ecu to run it ( it MUST be obd2, or not even a gas station will "pass" you, NJ's a bitch)
Trust me on this, i literally went to hell and back to pass NJ state inspection the real way with a JDM motor.

I dont know about the tennis ball, but on a few occasions ive heard of people getting failed for ride height. At the time i was barely tucking tire, and the guy gave me a hard time about it, but passed me anyway.

Mine are fully adjustable, i told the guy that, he gave me a funny look and told me i needed to raise my car up, then slapped on that beautiful green Nj inspection sticker thats good till 2009 .
I had OBD related issues with my car after my swap, and every gas station i inquired at about passing turned me down. In NJ there arent any gas stations im aware of that will just "pass" you if you are OBD2 due to strict new rules and guidlines that have been setup by the NJDOT. Too much liability when it comes to that stuff so alot of places dont "just pass" you if you pay them the money.
If you have OBD1 or below, your on f***ing easy street for swaps.

Re: (97Ej6mike)
i see. I'm not worried about being low because with the giant speedbumps we have here, if I lowered my car, I wouldn't even make it onto campus
Anyone else have experience with b20 swaps and inspection?
