Default Nitrous question

Just curious about using nitrous never used it b4 and have been against it for a while. But i was wondering what kind of gains would i expect from a 50 shot. what would i need to do to make it work(upgrade fuel pump. fuel pressure settings retard the timing ect)? and is there any way that i can hide all the solenoids so that no one would be able to see the hardlines? thanks

as for gains you can expect about 50 hp from a 50 shot and i would upgrade your fuel pump every thing else usually comes with a kit (dry system)

for a 60hp shot and below there is no need for a fuel upgrade... Just new 2 degree colder plugs, and if you really wanna be safe retard the timign 1-2 degrees.

yah ...like said b4 i think they're suppoed to deliver almost 50 whp and 50lbs/ft of torque .....IF it is at the proper temp (which is very important)..

i'm not sure of upgrades that are recomended since my vote is to stay the hell away for the ****!!!

i think that some wet nitrous kits can put down a few xtra horses than they are rated for. to be safe- get colder sparkplugs, make sure ignition timing is not advanced, and remember the rule of 15 hp per cylendar so keep it to 60 shot or below on a small 4 cyl. some nitrous kits say that u can run them on stock fuel system, which if u do make sure that its up on routine maintanence and working properly. id say for like 50-60 shot the only fuel mod u might wanna do is raise the fuel pressure a little. now ive never used nitrous, but my kit is almost fully installed and ive picked up alot of info in the process. hopefully someone wiht more experience than me will chime in on this

Not to jack the thread but have been wanting to ask this for a while.

Will my b16a2 hold up with a 50 shot? I mean is the stock internals and such strong enough for the extra power? I've been contemplating doing a 50 shot in my SI but don't want to damage anything. Probably won't even use it much, just to give those Domestic guys on the highway something to think about next time they rev on a Honda.

Yes, your b16 motor can handle 50 shot nitrous with stock internals. I probably wouldn't go any higher though.

u know what, everyone has a ******* friend that "ran" 100shot or bigger on a D-series. I call BS! I am so tired of hearing this, especially since I have blown 2 D-series motors spraying a 60 and 80 shot. I wanna see some proof of a D-series motor holding up to a 100 shot or 150 shot, please. I might buy it with some of the other motors produced by Honda but come on, doubling the power output of the motor on a stock D16 and it not blowing. Please

and twistedSi, a 50shot is a nice investment man, yes as long as you generally aren't a dumbass, run colder plugs, I used the (NGK BKR7E-11) but that was my pref., you can find out alot of good plugs to go with by using search here, or u can just goto Autozone and ask for 1 level colder or 2 level colder, hopefully they know what u are talking about. PM me with any questions u have, I will be glad to help u out to the best of my ability.

On stock internals, I personally have run a z6 with a 75 shot numerous times at the track and even more bottles through a 50 shot set-up for 'street' use.

Not to mention, on the 50 shot, I was Advanced 1 degree (The leaner the meaner), which is not smart but it was fast...

The people who are blowing their motors on stock internals with a 50 shot have bad set-ups, or had an issue with their motors before the kit or shortly there after... I ran enough bottle to say that with confidence...

The biggest suggestion I can make to have a semi-healthy running, quick bottled D16 is to upgrade to a 215lph intank (255 is way overkill), Cold plugs, fuel rail for wet systems, Fuel pressure Reg, Bottle heater (almost always necessary), and FOR SURE some sort of N20 bottle pressure gauge...

Proper installation ofcourse.

I ran VERY consistant 14.2 @96.6 in a stock+ weight 94 Del Sol Si on a 75 shot with basic bolt ons + the zex street cam.

When I swapped out motors, the bottle motor had 100k on it and still ran with very little blowby on the rings (there was some though I admit)

Any questions, feel free to IM me....

a dry kit is better (safer) than wet according to test that have been done. i used to have a 65 shot on a d16 with stock internals, timing retarded 2 degrees ran it like that for about 6 months before getting rid of the car and never had a problem with it. I'm about to put a 75-100 shot on my hatch with a built b18c1.
