West side!! YO YO YO!!!
Mind keeping the "gangsta" factor down a tad "boooyyiiiieee" ?
As for the new competition......I think its about time. We need some cars in the market to get the other manufactuers to make good cars. Maybe will give us a RWD Vtec car (that don't cost so damn much) (something along the lines of a RWD civic or something to the like)

Dont you mean the 180hp SENTRA? the Altima has a 200hp and 240hp engine choice I thought this coming year? - the *** end of the new Altimas looks sweet, the altima definitely needed a bit of a facelift to get me even CONSIDERING it as decent wooooooooooord, yo

They're finally releasing the Lancer Evo here. Ahh, I want it, if only they have Mitsubishi dealers where I live.

Are you sure you have your facts straight? The 2002 Nissan Altima comes in a 3.5 liter engine, that puts out 240 HP, with 246lbs. of torque. This is a powerful car, but its just a family sedan-it's bigger than the Toyota Camry, which means its heavy. I think you must be talking about the the new performance version of the Sentra-the Spec V, it has 180 horses, with 180 lbs of torque, and 6 speed manual trans. This is Nissans little performance sedan that will be competing with the Civic Si, etc., etc., etc. Just like your teachers have already told you-DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE COMING TO CLASS.

that is what we need to worry about! imports unite!
heh, ford focus R? produced by SVT? if any of you have ever driven any of the SVT vehicles you know they handle almost as well as an ITR, and with the list of products used on this one, it looks like the handling will match the ITR, and the straight line accel with not be too shabby either.
there is also talks of a cosworth 300hp awd for racing!
nice job ford, but I bet it still rattles, and has noisy brakes!

I've been to the mitsu site to see the new Lancer Evo and I was really disappointed. I was hoping it would look like Tommy Makinnen's car, but it looks just like a regular sedan. And the one they were giving away seemed like it should have a bit more horsepower(180hp), maybe I went to the wrong mitsu site. Which site are you guys going to see the new evo?

yeah.. the sentras are 180 hp i-4 and altimas are 240hp v-6's..
talkinga bout mitsu.. the lancer is going to be crap.. its like 110-140hp.. unless they bring in the 4g63 engine.. the lancer isn't anything to worry about.. what you guys should worry about is a turbo v-6 eclipse.. i've heard they're testing turbos are the new eclipses.. now if they would change the body back to generation II

Gangsta gangsta .
Don't rule out the new 2.7L V6 Tiburon either (~200hp).
As for the Lancer Evo, it'll be fast fukin car, it's just too bad they had to beat it with the ugly stick before bringing it stateside .

A SVT Fukus handle as good as a ITR? Nah, I don't think so. I am sure I'll run into one of those at work (I work at Ford) and I will be happy to prove you wrong about that.

I wouldn't be so sure about that........Ford seems rather determined to get to the top in the sport compact world. Look how fast the Focus got popular. There is a turbocharged 6 speed focus R in europe. (makes like 200 something HP)

Don't forget about the Subaru Impreza WRX STi due here in late 2002, early 2003. 280hp+ WRX, 280ish hp Lancer EVO VII.. should make for a nice streetlight tangle eh?

There is, albeit small. The STi's is Suby's inhouse tuner car (ala TRD, SVT, Honda's "Type R"- kinda, etc..) and their version is already sold elsewhere in the world. Belive power is rated at 280ps or so.

I just hope our slumping economy doesn't put too much of a damper on demand for these cars. We are so close to getting them and now the economy could ruin it. We need more tax relief.

The Mirage will only be available in the 2 door version which they will kill next year. The Lancer in the US is on the same chassis as the EVO but w/o any of the goods. A real shame considering the WRX' recent success.
