Newbie From the UK - Megan Racing??
Hey everyone. Ive been browsing the forum for a while, and decided to finally join up.
Ive just odered a 97" civic ek9 Type R from Japan, that should be arriving in a couple of months. Have any of you guys on here got one?
Also just a quick one about Megan Racing products - (Drift Spec cat back).
Alot of dudes over here in the UK knock Magans products, especially when I suggested putting one onto my civic type r. Has anyone had any experience with this exhaust?
Would I be able to fit this exhaust to an ek9 (b16b)? From what I undersatnd the jdm cats are shorter than the ukdm and usdm cats?
Thanks for any info

Megan products, while not horrible, are for the most part just inferior quality. They do not have the same RnD into them as some of the more 'top shelf' parts -- mostly because their parts are design copies.

Point taken guys. What other exhausts would you suggest? Basically I want something that nice and deep, not raspy/high pitched. It also has to be not loud when cruising, but lets rip in vtec/higher rpm range. I was always lead to believe that out of all Megan products, the exhausts were actually good?
My friend has one on his ek4 vti, and it sounds just how I'd wan't my ek9 to sound. So much for gettin that one

lol. Ye I see where your coming from about putting cheap parts on a CTR. But money aside, the drift spec sounds exactly as I'd want my car to sound. The Tanabe smr sounds pretty cool, but Ive not heard the skunk2 in person, only on youtube etc

Hmm, man I'm confused. I do see the point that others have made that only top quality products should be used on the ctr, but the megan racing drift has impressed me from what Ive seen of it on my friends car.Decisions, decisions

Re: (confucioussae)
he never said he was gonna drift.... it's just the name of the product line
anyway I'm from the UK also and have my eye on a world sport II, seems to match what you've described you're looking for. not too obtrusive for a daily drive but lets rip at high RPM's. however, getting these into the country isn't cheap ( £500 plus for the full system ) so bear that in mind!!

Rights Guys. Bit of an update on this. My exhaust fabricator is not moving away till next year now, so he can build me an exhaust for the ek9. Ive got one on my starlet turbo at the moment, and the build quality is second to none.
Hes mainly deals in turbo cars, not n/a so I was just wondering is there any specific spec I should ask the exhaust to be built to, i.e. resonators, pipe diameter etcIn order to get the above sound and performance?
The one on my car now, is straight through, with no resonators etc, but obviously, n/a cars sound different to turbos.
He told me to stick to 2-2.25inch with a 1.6 n/a?

Re:
The welds on Megan products break I know from experience, had a header and test pipe on my EP. I live in AZ and do not put them through bad weather at all the welds broke on both products.

2.5'' mandrel bent piping
high flow cat
22'' resonator
muffler of your choice with 2.5'' inlet
pair that up with a toda header, argueably the best OTS header for a b16b, and you've got one hell of a setup to build on.
