Newbie question...99 civic door panel removal and window fix.
My driver side manual window will not roll up. I can pull it up and then use the manual handle to roll it down but it will not engage to roll up. It spins freely and then catches and tries to roll the window down more. I would like to remove the door panel and see if I can fix the problem. Has anyone any information on this? It is a pretty easy DIY or should I just have a professional fix it?
Any suggestions/tips/instructioins would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Newbie question...99 civic door panel removal and window fix. (misi)
You will need a phillps screwdriver to remove the two screws. One is in the armrest pocket and one is in the inner door handle. Then you will need to remove the window regulator handle by pulling the clip out from behind it with a wire hook. Then there are clips holding it on around the bottom and sides of the panel. Pull out starting from the bottom to pop it loose. Now lift upward and pull off. Now you need to get the glass into the run channel. Loosen the two roller guide bolts with a ratchet and 10mm socket on an extension and adjust the glass so it is parallel with the glass run channel. Raise the glass as far up as possible and hold it against the glass run channel. Then tighten the two roller guide bolts. Make sure the glass goes up and down smoothly. Raise it fully and check for gaps. Check for operation. Check for water leaks. You should be able to do this. If the window is really disconnected and out of place you will need to remove it from the door and re-install it.

Re: just 4 small problems...
Thank you for the great help. Just a couple of snags. I have pictures I can send or post (not sure how)
1. Not sure how to get the door handle panel to either disconnect (?) or push through the
opening. (I detached the automatic door lock but not sure if I should detach the door latch.)
2. I do not have a visible screw on my arm rest/door handle (only found one screw to remove)
and it feels as though it is attached to the door on the inside.
3. After removing the speaker and disconnecting the wires I tried to pull the panel away at this
point and it also seems "stuck".
4. The door lock, at the top of the panel, is also giving me a problem. do I just lift the panel over
this or do I detach it?
Any suggestions for the above would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

To post pictures (which would allow me to giude you along smoother through this process) go to the following website and register:http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com Basically this is an image hosting site where you upload pictures to your folders by brosing your computer and locating the jpeg...etc. files. It is straight forward about how to do everything but if you have trouble just PM me.
Basically you need to remove everything from the door panel that is 'not' the door panel before you can lift it off. Once it is ready it will lift off.

Re: just 4 small problems... (94JDMEG)
Thanks alot for helping me through this. I have posted 3 pictures on that website that you told me about. How do I get them to you now?
Basically my problem is that the armrest is connected through the doorpanel to the door via a couple of screws. You can see it through the hole where the door handle and lock has been removed. I just can't see how to get to it to take out the screws. I took a picture of it also.
If you know of a way to get it off, let me know. I will keep monkeying with it.
Thanks again for all of your help.

The pictures did not post properly. Make sure you have the correct URL for each individual image. This will be found upon clicking the picture at the hosting site. Try again.
