Default Newbie here! Need your help!

Hello this is my first post. I need some help...

Wondering if Manual ECU's work on Automatic tranny cars?

Does anyone know if a JDM auto ECU would work for a USDM auto tranny?

Car in question is 93 Civic DX. Engine in question is JDM D15B.

Thanks

Here is the thing. The guy I want to buy the manual 5spd P08 ECU out if says if you turns it into an AUTO ECU, it doesn't work with our (USDM) autos. No explanantion though...

I read somewhere thats because the JDM Auto ECU's have dual lock up solenoids (what are those?) which are controlled by the ECU. Now the USDM auto tranny's only have 1 lock up solenoids....

Can anyone confirm if this is true?

Here is my story which leads up to my question above...

I have a JDM D15B swap which was done yesterday but I got the wrong ECU from the crazy dude I got the engine from. He gave me a P54 (WTF thats a Accord one!). Anyways I cannot pull the auto stick down past reverse unless I put a key in that hole above the stick...

Anyways P54 is not the correct ECU. I would like the JDM original P08 ECU but I have a automatic tranny and the ECU I just found is a 5spd version, although the guy says he can make it into a Automatic version but says it wouldnt work with the USDM tranny...

This is where my question above comes from...Anyone can help?

Thanks!

I believe that you can get them chipped to work in the auto tranny. I have no idea, nor have I ever heard of lock up solenoids, so sorry, no help here.

YES you can chip a manual ecu to be an auto http://www.pgmfi.org/twiki/bin...anual

thats the link. it tells you how to do BOTH auto to manual and manual to auto

to turn it into an auto you have to buy resistors at the local electronics store

USDM Manual to Auto:

remove jumper at RP18
add 4.7kOhm +/- 5% at RP18
add 2.7kOhm +/- 5% at RP17
add IC16 5050 S or equiv.
