Lack of torque.
Pricey for what you get.

JDMedness
Awesome rod/stroke ratio.

it's very price prohibitive for what you're getting. you can rev the **** out of it...but then again, you can rev the **** out of most B-series engines. you'll be more happier, and perporm better, with a b18b...either one is really accepting of a turbo.

if it was me i'd get the b18...but it's your call

It`s a pretty stupid choice when you can get a b18c5 for the same price.

http://www.hondamotorsonline.com

They sell the B18B for $4,200.00

They sell the B18C5 or JDM ITR swap for $4,800.00

They sell the JDM GS-R (SiR-G) swap for $3,300.00

Why did I throw in that last one?

Because the JDM GS-R motor has 10.6:1 CR, 180hp, and the torque and midrange would beat the **** out of the B16B.

The B16B is a toqueless wonder - it'll make you wonder why you spent $900.00 more on it when you could have had a cheaper, quicker JDM GS-R B18C motor instead.

The ITR swap is definately worth the extra money over the B16B though.

low torque
high rev potential
bone stock potential
nice top end
little high for what you get
b16's are something that everyone has
good for turbo and all motor set up
all in all it is a good strong motor!
i have one and i love it. i put it in a ek hatch.

doesn't BLITZ make a turbo kit for the b16b???riiiiight. although its not real popular to boost the b16b, it can be done. get off of your high horse.

any motor can be boosted, just because some company makes a turbo kit for it does not mean its GOOD to boost it

The only reason i can see why you would want a b16b is the JDMMadness bling bling appear. But since you can get a c5 for the same price...i think its an easy choice. C5 is pretty JDM bling bling too.

prove its BAD to boost a stock b16b with a stock turbo kit. I already know what you mean considering the higher compression levels and the larger cams, but it still holds its own with low boost settings.

no, prove its GOOD first.. then we'll go from there.
boosting a stock b16b on LOW boost settings is not really "good"..that is more like, satisfactory.

si, senior. my point being: its perfectly ok to boost a b16b as long as the boost levels are low and your fuel management is up to the task, just like turbocharging any other motor.

Jesus man this thread is hurting my head.

There's absolutely NOTHING that makes a B16B better to turbo over any other Type R motor, or really any other B-Series VTEC motor.

Your analness(sp) is making my head hurt. I didn't say it was better Tom, just "fine" to turbo. Go on about your business...I'm not trying to prove the C5 to be shitty or anything, I was just stating a point. I agree the C5 would be the best motor to choose from.

And for some of you who don't know, the B16B is now being sold by many online places for cheaper then the C5...

There there WAFFLES.

I know the B16B is cheaper - in fact I already posted that.

I'd take the B18C GS-R over the B16b still y0!
