Newbie: EG4 brake improvements
Hi
I have EG4 with D15B2 engine. Next step is to swap B16 engine in chasis. But whats the power whiteout control over it.
So, what do I need to upgrade my brakes? I'm planing to put brakes from EG6 because it's very difficult to buy Integra's brake system in my country.
Is it possible to buy aftermarket brake kit for EG? Or it's better to get used parts?
I searched but without any good result.
Please help with some sugestions or links.
Tnx and sory for maybe bad english and I belive boring question because there a plenty of information on forum but with english is hard to find.
Tnx again

It all depends on what your overall plans are... You can get a big brake kit from somewhere like http://www.ssbc.com but they can be pricey and you have to run at least 17" wheels. The other option is to replace the rotors with some nice Brembo or power slot blanks and upgrade the pads (I use EBC GreenStuff and have been for years). Check out http://www.nopi.com, they will have decent pricing on the rotors but I don't think they carry EBC.

Big brake kit is not an solution because of 17" rims. That will "kill" the car with or without B16. I did already a second thing what you say. I replace the rotors and brake pads. But, I not sure that this is enough. Now the brakes are controling the 90 HP, with B16 it will stoping the 160 HP&more weight. The better rotors and "sport" brake pads are'nt enough.

The next step would be to upgrade your prop valve and master cylinder. B18C5-EH2 did a great write-up on the MC swap, you can find it at the link below..

Beyond that, if big brakes are out of the question your kinda fucked. I mean rear disc conversion is always an option. Better calipers than the single piston your working with now but usually these are nearly impossible to find outside of a big brake kit..

Only downside to going to a big brake conversion is most of them are based off of the ex brakeing system. I would just upgrade to integra, civic si, or civic ex brakes up front, get some rear dise, some nice rotors, and pads. and go from there. Then you will have more options for upgrades later on if needed. Or if you want to go crazy you can do the Ep' brake setup.

Tnx for advice for prp valve and master cylinder. But whats with EG6 (b16) brakes. How about to replace the whole system? What parts do I need. In my situation this is the only solution because there is no way to get a big brake kit and it's imposible to find wrecked Integra.

2 sohc...: That's what I mean. The Integra's brake is imposible to find in Croatia but Si (is that the Europe VTi model-EG6 B16?) brakes are possible to find. That's why I'm trying to find information about all the parts needed and DIY links

Re: (Oggy_EG4)
I would say your best bet without spending a bunch of $ would be to upgrade the MC (this will help a bunch because it will move a bit more fluid than your current setup) and the prop valve will help here as well. I'm not sure if they ship over seas but try checking out http://www.hondapartsdeals.com for OE honda parts and http://www.acuraoemparts.com for OE acura parts..

My stock DX disc\drum worked fine for stopping an H22, so what you have could deffinately handle a b16.

Re: (Oggy_EG4)
prop valve is the proportioning valve usually mounted on the firewall with hard lines running to it. It basically proportions the fluid to varying degrees when the brake is pressed. Typically the 4040 out of a teg is used bacause it will allow the additional fluid of a larger MC to work better for you as far as braking power is concerned. I just have power slot fron rotors, EBC green stuff pads and SS brake lines in my JDM B16A EJ. Stoping power is more than ample and I haven't even changed out the MC or prop valve yet. I'll probably wait for that until I do my 5lug/ rear disc conversion. **** I would even lcok em up coming off the motorway to lay out some thick smoke to scare the others exiting some 150 yards behind me. It's a valid concern because as we all know, what goes up must come down. But I think for a pretty much stock B16 rotors and pads, maybe MC and prop valve will be ample stoping power for you. Like 4door_deamon said his stock DX setup was enough to stop his H22, quiet a bit more torque than a B16..

Tnx for answer.
Do you have rotors from EG4 or from EG6? EG6 have bigger rotors then EG4 I believe.
I have Goodrige brake lines so thats one step in improving my brakes.
Finaly. Does anybody knows what parts I must get to put B16 rotors on my car?
Rotors, brake pads, calipers and what else? (MC and prop valve offcourse included)
Do I need to do rear drum to rotor conversion or will the drums do just fine? Some people says that the braking whit drums is even better then with rears rotors/discs!
