Default newb question...

The autoshop where I just got my timing belt, water pump, etc replaced told me that I need a new radiator cap so I went to autozone and picked one up.

I waited till it was cool and i took of the old one and i heard the noise of pressure being relieved and I put the new one on there... my question is... does it need to be pressurized or something. Can i just replace my radiator cap like that?

It's a closed system once your radiator cap is on. It will create it's own pressure via the machinations of the water pump.
