newb electronics question, can't find anywhere :-\
Yeah, not having any probs or anything, but I can't seem to find it anywhere, and I've never encountered this problem in the garage so I'm kinda stumped... What governs in some cars whether some of them put out power through the DC connector when the car is off or not? Like my benz and civic kill power to the outlet, my GTI and my dad's Jetta leave the circuit on (which they said at volkswagon is normal), I don't remember what my GSX did b/c I didn't have a cell, radar detector, or sattelite radio then, but anyways, it varies from car to car, what determines this? There anyway to convert it one way or the other? I assume it's just the way the wiring is hooked up, but does anybody know how? Or do u have to rip apart the whole dash harness?

I thought about that but I didn't want my battery to die if I left it on with a charger or something in it and went on a long trip. I wired a switch with one side going to the existing switched hot connection, and then a heavier wire going to the other side from the ignition constant 12V so I can do either, and I have a heavier wire if I want to use a big inverter.
